Museum Van Loon, Amsterdam, Holland

Inspired by the success of A Brush with Grandeur, the Museum Van Loon in Amsterdam decided to celebrate their holding of two fine early portraits of Jonkheer and Madame Louis van Loon by de László, which had been hanging in the family home on Keisersgracht since they were painted. These were augmented by some 25 further portraits and archive material. Many of the portraits were previously untraced and of considerable importance to the artist’s catalogue raisonné.
