The duchesse de Gramont asks when de László will be returning to Paris as she has received enquiries from the duchesse de Montmorency and the comtesse de la Rochefoucauld. The Romanian sovereigns recently visited Paris. The comtesse de Noailles' portrait [5144], a "vivid success", has been damaged by a spot of varnish and she wishes to consult the artist. Paris is readying itself for the Olympic games—the duchesse de Gramont organised the Degas exhibition at Galerie Georges Petit (DLA015-0075 previously contained a cache of letters from the duchesse de Gramont and duc de Guiche to de László.
