    Received a letter from Siklóssy about a photography exhibition at the Nemzeti Szalon on the British Empire, opened by Ambassador Knox. De László's royal portraits [9123][9126] have been reproduced widely. Reference to a picture of his that was "won by a poor man". Lucy thanks Marczi László for the Christmas present; she is sorry he is not spending Christmas with them.

Partial letter 2: de László is planning to travel to Constantinople & Jerusalem, possibly returning via Greece. Asks Marczi László to order a gravestone & to tidy the grave of his daughter, Eva. He is painting Prime Minister Baldwin's wife [2324] & plans to paint the Prime Minister as well. (Envelope does not belong to the partial letters.     Final digit is indistinct; the year could be read as “1937”, but based on the contents of the letter, it is “1936”

    Letter primarily concerning de László's stay in Bucharest and his portraits of Queen Marie [3211], the late King Ferdinand [4217], King Carol [4220] and Prince Michael [4218]. Travel plans. Reference to portrait commissions being arranged by Siklóssy.

    Pesti Hírlap. Marking the coronation of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth, Pesti Hírlap published a special issue featuring portraits by de László [9123][4460]. At the artist’s suggestion, Dr László Siklóssy sent copies to Queen Elizabeth’s mother, the Countess of Strathmore, who replied with a handwritten letter of thanks (included), praising the portraits and sharing her interest in Hungary. Historical connections between Scotland and Hungary through the Countess' lineage and Glamis Castle.
