Letter is not addressed to de László, but is of some historical interest. The sender, Tivadar Duka (1825-1908), participated in the 1848-9 War of Independence and was General Görgei’s adjutant at the time of the surrender to the Russian army at Világos in October 1849. In this letter, he discusses the delayed publication in The Studio of de László's portrait of General Görgei [5369], which he calls 'a masterpiece'. He also mentions an old letter he received from Sándor Gál (1817-71)

Lambotte lets de László know that his paintings are hung in good positions, particularly his portrait of Cardinal Rampolla [4511]. He regrets that [4511] must be sent to the Munich Glaspalast before the exhibition finishes, and asks whether its departure can be postponed. He has been asked prices for two of de László's works, adding that he thought the study of the peasant [110949] was sold, and that people cannot believe his portrait of Baroness d’Erlanger is for sale. "Tell me your prices and I will try to find buyers", he writes

Letter from the journalist Clémence Rose, who has been given a letter of introduction to de László from one of the artist's good friends, Mrs József Hampel, to de László. Rose recounts a visit to the 1903 Annual Exhibition at the Künstlerhaus in Vienna where she was impressed by de László's portrait of Alice Barbi [2340], a "complex soul"; his two "gentleman" portraits [10664] [4884,] which "art connoisseurs will covet"; and his portrait of Archduchess Friedrich of Austria [111000], "a finely harmonised painting" that "will find its place in a beautiful princely collection". The sender would like to meet de László before he leaves Vienna for Ireland. She describes Henry Wickham Steed as "an intelligent and charming man I am sure you will like"
